Experienced Entrepreneur and Passionate Educator specializing in Italian Food and Culture,  Sabbia (Sandy) Auriti grew up in the Abruzzo Region of Italy, has over 40 years of professional and academic experience, and holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature with a specialization in Italian American and Gender and Women Studies.

Sabbia is the owner of Mediterraneo Foods and La Mozzare, both US-based companies, specializing in the import of Italian gourmet foods. She distributes to wholesalers and retailers throughout the US, has an online consumer store, and is opening her very own Italian gourmet market and café that overlooks the Hudson River, facing Manhattan.

Sabbia received her BA degree from Marymount College, NY, her Masters from Hunter College, NY ,and her Ph.D. from The Graduate Center, CUNY, NY in Comparative Literature with a focus on Italian American and Gender and Women Studies.

Sabbia has lectured at Stony Brook University, Hunter College, Baruch College, Monroe College, the European School of Economics and the Fashion institute of Technology. In addition, she has presented at several academic conferences including The University of Toronto Press, NEMLA at University of Connecticut, spoke on the “The Nomad Subject” at Harvard University, and presented 2 papers at MLA (Modern Language Association of America), to name a few.
